Turn up the BUFFER on your I/O software until the issue goes away. What I/O are you using? IF your using the sound card on that Mac then youll have issues, you NEED a dedicated I/O as well Im on an OLD Dual 1.8 with 3 gig ram here and it works fine.ĭo you have the SD libraries on a secondary HD as instructed? If not, THAT is your issue ![]() ![]() I have had 60 tracks with eq and no prob also a bit of compression and reverb on some tacks and 5 gigs of ram as i don't think that any ram over 4 gigs does anything unless your 64 bit! I have the same computer and i run addictive drums. Am I totally SOL? I spent $140 on 8GB of new RAM hoping for results but no gusto. Is there settings that I can adjust to get things running smoother? I read in the text document that came with the Reaper install that some Mac G5's might not run Reaper so hot. Each EQ track reads at about 4-5% CPU usage and SD2 is anywhere from 17-32%. Alternatively, you can compile Audio Overload without the GUI by setting the environment. Currently I tried to just run EQ on each individual track in Reaper and no effects in SD2 and I was still in the 75% range. On MinGW/MSYS2 (64-bit): pacman -S pkg-config mingw-w64-x8664-glfw. Ive tried adjusting what audio settings I could based on what I read in the User Guide, but I don't know that any of that helped my issue. I've tried busing effects in SD2 and Reaper. To cut back on CPU usage I've tried running zero SD2 effects and all Reaper effects to no success. During playback it skips and distorts whether I'm adding effects on the fly or not. I'm running Superior Drummer 2(SD2) and when I pull up the performance meter it runs in the 75-80% CPU usage range. ![]() ![]() Snippet of Console logs Code Block errorĒ1:07:04.848721-0500 coreaudiod HALS_IOA1Engine::EndWriting: got an error from the kernel trap, Error: 0圎00002D7ĭefaultĒ1:07:04.848855-0500 Music HALC_ProxyIOContext::IOWorkLoop: skipping cycle due to overloadĭefaultĒ1:07:04.857903-0500 kernel USB Sound assertion (Resetting engine due to error returned in Read Handler) in /AppleInternal/BuildRoot/Library/Caches//Sources/AppleUSBAudio/AppleUSBAudio-401.4/KEXT/AppleUSBAudioDevice.cpp at line 6644ĭefaultĒ1:07:05.102746-0500 coreaudiod Audio IO Overload inputs: '' outputs: '' cause: 'Unknown' prewarming: no recovering: noĭefaultĒ1:07:05.102926-0500 coreaudiod CAReportingClient.Late 2005 PowerMac G5 2.3ghz Dual Processing, 10gb RAM, 250 GB Disk Space, PCI-X. I've also opened a Feedback Assistant ticket (FB9037528):ĭoes anyone know what could be causing this issue? I've added a short snippet from Console logs around the time of the audio skip/drop out. The Console logs show coreaudiod got an error from a kernel trap, a "USB Sound assertion" in AppleUSBAudio/AppleUSBAudio-401.4/KEXT/AppleUSBAudioDevice.cpp at line 6644, and the Music app "skipping cycle due to overload." This behavior occurs with a completely fresh install of Catalina as well as Big Sur with the stock Music app on a 2019 MacBook Pro 16 (full specs below). I have a USB audio interface that is causing kernel traps and the audio output to "skip" or dropout every few seconds. With the qualification of Monterey 12.3 we will no longer be testing macOS Mojave, however it is expected to work at this time.
